Watch as best-selling author Brad Thor introduces Rick Santorum at last night's rally at the Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Among the prominent individuals on the stage with Thor and the former Pennsylvania senator were Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, state Representative Tom Morrison and two former state representatives, Al Salvi and Penny Pullen. The latter two are the co-chairs of the Illinois Santorum campaign. Salvi and the presidential candidate are both graduates of Carmel High School in Mundelein.
After the chant of "Rick...Rick...Rick" died down, Santorum told the audience of about 1,000 about riding around Iowa in a ten year-old Dodge Ram, "the Chuck truck," along with the owner of the vehicle and Thor.
"Everybody else was driving around in limousines and buses and SUVs and airplanes," he said.
"Nobody gave us much of a chance," he added.
"We painted a positive vision of where this country could go if we believed in ourselves again, that we can be a great and powerful nation and transform the world again as we have in the past. And the people of Iowa responded and all of a sudden a spark was lit."
"Anybody get a phone call or two? You'll get a few more," he quipped. Indeed I have received a few more Mitt Romney robocalls and a couple others from a pro-Romney PAC today.
