Illinois' export-driven economy will greatly benefit from the enacting of the pending free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama. The state's 10th congressional district, which is just north of where I live, is represented by Robert Dold of Chicago's North Shore. "The 10th district," Dold says, "sends $19 billion of exports each and every year."
The FTAs have been sitting on President Obama's desk for nearly three years; they were sent to Congress on Monday. The House Ways and Means passed them on Wednesday, the full House is expected to pass them next week.
