Video: Cleaning up after the 2011 Chicago Marathon

I've run over 30 marathons--but until Sunday I didn't know what exactly what happened after all the runners pass through. Here's what State Street looked like about an hour after 40,000 Bank of America Chicago Marathon athletes trampled on the famous thoroughfare.

If you like street sweepers, this video is for you.

For you Chicago Cubs fans, you get a treat--a Cubbie street sweeper.



Particularly on chilly days, marathon runners will wear a "throw-shirt" to the start. Once they get moving and their bodies are warmed up, the shirts are dropped--often in the middle of the street. On the right is a pile of shirts I found on the curb of Columbus Boulevard at the start of the 26.2 mile race.
