Last summer, while the Republicans were still a minority in the House of Representatives, the GOP, led by Rep. Darrell Issa of California, pressured the Department of Transportation to waive the requirement to have what I call Obama stimulus campaign signs placed at each ARRA-funded road construction site. Now the advertising placards are simply "encouraged" to accompany the project.
Well, someone "encouraged" the placement of one of these signs, which cost taxpayers $300 each, on US Route 41 south of Oakton--that's Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, Illinois. Oh, this is not the same sign I reported on last fall, that one was north of Oakton.
I took the photograph on Memorial Day.
Leave it to Illinois to keep puffing on what the Chicago Tribune's John Kass calls "Hopium."
These signs are like cockroaches--you can never kill them all.
