Time for a break from winter.
The tall yellow flower goldenrod, a member of the aster family, is a stately harbinger of late summer. Goldenrod is not respected by everyone, some view it as a weed. I don't concur.
I photographed these flowers in Manistique, Michigan, on the Upper Peninsula in August, 2009.
