Over the last few months there has been a lot of fingerpointing within the tea party community over who is the real tea party. I try to stay out of those fights, although a Michigan group, calling itself the "Tea Party," has filed candidates for several competitive Great Lake State congressional races, including the 1st, which is currently held by retiring Democrat Bart Stupak.
The
Detroit Free Press is
reporting the group held a convention in Saginaw over the weekend, and it submitted petitions to the state board of elections--it's petitions were signed by media-shy Mark Steffek, a retired United Auto Workers steward.
This tea party leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
