Jason Plummer, a Republican candidate for Illinois lieutenant governor, is showing authentic leadership and openness in his campaign, voluntarily disclosing all campaign contributions.
Maybe it's just a campaign gimmick, but we like what 27-year-old Jason Plummer – a University of Illinois graduate – is doing in his campaign for lieutenant governor.
Plummer is voluntarily disclosing all of his campaign contributors on his campaign Web site and encouraging other statewide candidates to do the same.
It's a big step beyond Illinois' weak campaign disclosure laws, which currently require statewide candidates to disclose some campaign donations, but not until late January – less than two weeks before the Feb. 2 primary.
Plummer updates his list of donors on a daily basis.
While a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, my alma mater by the way, Plummer led the charge in decrying public funding of speeches by former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers.
