Chicago's Silent No More Tea Party

After a dicey start because of driving rain, the Chicago Tea Party Patriots held the Silent No More Tea Party in the city's Millennium Park downtown. While we were waiving flags and signs on Michigan Avenue, a woman turned to me and said, "The rain must be a sign from God." I replied, "Well, the Republicans will still take back the House of Representatives in 2010." The rain did keep the attendance down--I think we had 200--but as soon as the speeches started, the rain vanished and we had clear skies for the rest of the event.

Perhaps that was the sign from God!

The featured speaker, pictured with your humble blogger, was Kevin Jackson, whose site is the Blacksphere.net. He's the author of The BIG Black Lie: How I Learned The Truth About The Democrat Party.

Jackson delighted the crowd when he declared, "I am a black man who doesn't use a teleprompter."

A number of political candidates were in attendance, including Patrick Hughes, a Republican who is running for the US Senate. Hughes, pictured on the right, recently received the endorsement of former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka.

There were many speakers, including myself, and which nudged the rally past the plannned 1:00pm ending time.

A sign from God.

I don't know the details, but Chicago Tea Party Patriots is planning a November 7 event. Organizers were requesting attendees to sign up on the group's Facebook page. If you want to join in, click here.

More pictures later.

UPDATE Oct. 22: "Da Coach" says he did not endorse Hughes, he only agreed to serve on his finance committee.
