Ford postage stamp inked for August release
A postage stamp honoring the late President Gerald R. Ford will be issued on August 31. The 38th chief executive died on the day after Christmas last year.
I think the artist, Michael Deas, did a terrific job capturing the warmth of last Midwesterner to serve as president.
Ronald Reagan of course lived in Illinois and Iowa, but left the Heartland for good over forty-years before moving into the White House. But the Midwest never left him.
Vice President Dick Cheney and former Defense Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld attended the unveiling of the Ford stamp in Washington earlier today. Both men served as White House chief of staff under Ford. Pictured with the Vice President is Susan Ford Bales.
