Caracas? Havana? Austin, Texas considering name change

Austin in Texas is what West Berlin was to East Germany. It's a political island. Only Austin, the Texas state capital and where the state's flagship university sits, is a leftist aberration in a conservative state.

Because the city's namesake, Stephen Austin, was a slaveholder, the liberals running the place are considering a name change.

I recommend saluting a leftist failure and renaming it Caracas.

Or perhaps Havana.

I live in Austin, and local wags refer to it interchangeably as "Berkeley on the Colorado", or "The People's Republic of Austin". One important thing to note, however, is that Austin is in Texas, run by a state legislature that is in complete opposition to everything liberal Austin stands for. The name change would never, ever be allowed. The governor and the lege would take turns stepping on Austin and any talk of a name change.
