Cobain artifacts, including couch I am sitting on, destroyed in Aberdeen WA fire

Aberdeen, Washington is a miniature Flint, Michigan. Or a tiny Detroit. The only thing it has going for it is that it's the hometown of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

But part of Cobain's past, including the couch I am sitting on here, is gone.

From the Seattle Times:
And history matters here in this gritty town still reeling from the collapse of the logging industry, and where working-class families have lived for generations.

The fire Saturday gutted the Aberdeen Armory Building, dedicated in 1922 and touted as “a source of civic pride and activity.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Aberdeen Fire Chief Tom Hubbard.

The two-story structure housed the Aberdeen Museum of History, a senior center and low-income assistance offices.
Near the entrance of the museum was the Cobain exhibit. That couch is where he slept every night for a few months in the 1980s. The sofa was an improvement for Cobain--he was previously was homeless.
