Yesterday I meant to get to President Trump's Tuesday joint press conference with the leaders of our allies in the Baltic States, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. Freed from Soviet tyranny, all three freedom-loving nations are now loyal allies and members of NATO.
"Through the decades of brutal Soviet occupation, the United States never ceased to recognize the sovereignty of the Baltic republics," Trump said in his opening remarks. "In our discussions today, I was proud to reaffirm America’s commitment to the Welles Declaration of 1940 and the U.S.-Baltic Charter of 1998.
Later in the press conference, responding to a question from a Latvian reporter, Trump spoke glowingly about the invest possibilities in the Baltics.
"I think all three would be great places to invest," Trump replied. "Stable governments, incredible people — hardworking, industrious people. I think they would be great places to invest. I would have no problem with it. Although, I think as president of the United States, they would call it a slight conflict of interest, perhaps. (Laughter.) You might be hearing from these people."
The leader for the Free World also praised the three small nations for their MATO commitment of spending two-percent of their GDP on defense.
Make Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania Great Again.
