Chicago pastor suggests renaming Jackson Park for Jacko or Jesse

Bishop James Dukes, a black man who presumably is not related to white supremacist cretin David Dukes, wants the statue of George Washington at the northern end of Washington Park removed.

But that's not all, as CBS Chicago tells us.

The pastor also said President Andrew Jackson's name should be removed from nearby Jackson Park, because he also was a slave owner. He said he’s not necessarily asking the city rename the parks altogether. He suggested Washington Park could be named after former Mayor Harold Washington, and Jackson Park could be named after civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson or singer Michael Jackson.

Dukes said he’s not trying to erase history. He said black people should be able to decide who is and is not honored in their communities.

What a load of crap piled upon more crap. First of all, neighborhoods change and the area surrounding Washington and Jackson Park used to be as white as Mount Greenwood on the Southwest Side is now. And while the white, Asian, and Hispanic populations of Chicago are increasing, the African-American population of America's third-largest city is falling fast.

George Washington, not Harold Washington, is the Father of Our Country. When he died he freed his slaves.

As for Jackson, the first Democratic president--did you know that?--was the hero of the battle of the New Orleans who also was the first president who came from humble roots. Yes, Old Hickory was a slave owner. As for Jesse Jackson, the race hustler is a shakedown artist who is the patriarch of a family of losers--his half-brother Noah Robinson is serving a life sentence of extortion, racketeering, and murder. His son, former congressman Jesse Jr, is an ex-con, as is Junior's estranged wife, ex-Chicago alderman Sandi.

Michael Jackson? Really? No, really?!? The Gary, Indiana-born "Jacko" was a serial child molester.
