Chiraq: 4 dead and at least 34 wounded over weekend

It was chilly for all of the weekend and rainy for much of it--but the weather didn't temper the mood in Chicago as four people were shot to death and at least 34 others were wounded.

Two of those fatalities happened in the Austin neighborhood, which easily leads Chiraq in both fatal and non-fatal shootings this year. This West Side neighborhood, which borders affluent and liberal Oak Park, is a popular shopping venue for suburbanites seeking a narcotics fix. The gangs are battling over customers.

Of the two other deadly shootings, one occurred in Gage Park on the Southwest Side and the other, which appears to have been a domestic dispute, in South Chicago on the South Side.
