Chiraq: 7 dead and at least 31 wounded over weekend

Abandoned home in Roseland
Over the last weekend seven people were shot to death in Chicago--with at least 31 wounded. 2017 is shaping up to be very bloody year as 2016 was. Sometime this week Chiraq will record its 1000th shooting of the year.

Of those deadly shootings over the past weekend, amazingly none of them occurred on the West Side. One of those killings happened n Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side, the other six took place on the South Side, with one each in Englewood, West Englewood, Parkway Gardens, Washington Park, South Shore, and Roseland.

Former president Barack Obama was in Roseland yesterday where he met with at-risk youth. Roseland, just as it was when Obama was a community organizer there, is plagued by high levels of violent crime.
