Radical Islamist kills 20 at Orlando gay bar--UPDATE 50 dead

Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, whose parents are from Afghanistan, fatally shot 20 patrons at a gay bar in Orlando, Florida. He was killed while holding hostages inside the establishment at 5am by a SWAT team. Around 20 other people were wounded.

Please pray for the victims and their families.

Media outlets are going out of their way to mention that he is a US citizen. I recall the media doing the same with one of he shooters in the San Bernardino terror attacks.

The FBI says the tragedy is being investigated as an act of terror and the maniacal shooter, who may have been wearing a suicide vest, may have "leanings to radical Islamic terrorism."

ISIS is cheering the deaths.

Equality Florida issued a statement this morning:
Gay clubs hold a significant place in LGBTQ history. They were often the only safe gathering place and this horrific act strikes directly at our sense of safety. June commemorates our community standing up to anti-LGBTQ violence at the Stonewall Inn, the nightclub that has become the first LGBTQ site recognized as a national monument.
But Stonewall, where New York police heavies roughed up some gays in 1969, was nothing like the carnage in Orlando.

According to FindTheData, Mateen was a registered Democrat.

UPDATE 9:35am CDT: Orlando's mayor now says 50 people are dead. This is the worst mass-shooting in American history.
