(Photo) St. James of Sag Bridge

Northern Illinois' second-oldest church is St. James of Sag Bridge, which is located between Lemont and Willow Springs, Illinois.

The first church, a log cabin, was consecrated in 1833, the same year Chicago was founded as a village. The current church was built in the 1850s. When I was a teen a attended mass their a few times. The kneelers weren't upholstered. Ouch. The limestone was quarried nearby, probably from across what is now Archer Avenue and painstakingly dragged up the bluff where the church now sits.
