| Gov. Pat Quinn: Why is this man smiling? |
Twice this year--in March and earlier this week--Quinn's campaign YouTube channel has seen videos pulled that showed Montgomery Burns, the cantankerous billionaire nuclear power plant owner in The Simpsons, pulled by the Google-owned online video channel.
And twice the Fox network succeeded in having both clips quickly pulled, citing a copyright violation.
As the Obama campaign did in 2012, the Quinn campaign is utilizing class warfare in an attempt to distract voters from a poor record, particularly in economic matters. Quinn's Republican opponent, businessman and political novice Bruce Rauner, is a multi-millionaire.
When viewers try to watch Quinn's #RealRauner - A Springfield Millionaire, they receive this message: "This video contains content from FOX, who has blocked it on copyright grounds."
Rauner for his part lives in Chicago's northern suburbs, about 200 miles from Springfield.
Does Quinn for Illinois have two copyright strikes?

If you get a copyright strike, that means your video has been taken down from YouTube because a copyright owner sent us a complete legal request asking us to do so. When a copyright owner formally notifies us that you don't have their permission to post their content on the site, we're required by law to take down your upload.More...
Keep in mind, videos can be removed from the site for different reasons, not all of which are copyright-related. Also, most copyright claims don't result in a strike. If you're not sure what's going on, we have a guide that will help you understand the copyright claim on your video.
Receiving a copyright strike will put your account in bad standing and you will lose access to certain YouTube features.Okay sure, "most copyright claims don't result in a strike." But we may learn more if Quinn for Illinois decides to use Mr. Burns again in an-anti Rauner ad. Or if the hacks with the Quinn campaign video team violate a copyright in another way.
If you receive three copyright strikes, your account will be terminated. All the videos uploaded to your account will be removed. Users with terminated accounts aren’t able to create new accounts.
A spokesman for the Rauner campaign said, "Gov. Quinn is running his campaign as poorly as he is running state government."
True, very true.
