ILSen: Aaron Schock endorses Truax

The Doug Truax campaigned picked up its second major endorsement in less than a week.

From a campaign press release:
Congressman Aaron Schock, IL-18, of Peoria, is endorsing Doug Truax for U.S. Senate, calling him the best Republican to take on a vulnerable Dick Durbin in the general election.

This is Truax's second noteworthy endorsement in less than a week. His campaign continues to pick up momentum as he travels the state to carry his message and build coalitions. Late last week national conservative leader Newt Gingrich strongly endorsed the political newcomer.

Like Gingrich, Schock said he is impressed with Truax's military service, expertise and knowledge on health care, his business background and his solid conservative principles.
"Doug Truax represents the type of young and energetic leader Republicans want to embrace. Truax has fresh ideas to shrink government and grow the economy and a strong work ethic to carry those ideas through," said Schock, who also headlined an event for Truax in central Illinois last week.

Peoria Heights, IL
"Doug Truax has served our nation in the military and is ready to serve our nation in the U.S. Senate. As a businessman he brings an understanding of the private sector and deep expertise on health care. As a family man he is rooted in tried and true conservative principles.

"He has a history of beating the odds. Without reservation, Doug Truax is the strongest Republican candidate to go head to head with Democrat Dick Durbin this fall."

Truax said he is honored to have Schock's support. He said he admires Schock's dedication in building the Republican Party and his focus on economic growth, deficit reduction and regulatory reform.

"Congressman Schock is one of our party's rising stars and a man who values results over rhetoric, as I do. I am humbled he is supporting me and hope to join him soon in bringing a brighter economic future for Illinois families," Truax said.

In addition to the Gingrich and Schock nods, Truax has gained the endorsements of 13 of 15 Republican organizations.
