Unless it's in Las Vegas, nothing spells out failure better than imploding a tall building. Earlier today the tallest structure in Flint, Michigan--where the United Auto Workers was founded--was brought to the ground in a matter of seconds.
The nineteen-story Genesee Towers is now rubble and dust. If you enjoy explosions and a multi-angle video of a building collapse--and who doesn't!--then click here.
Replacing it will be Exploration Park, which is being described as by the Detroit Free Press as "family-friendly plaza with public art and a science theme." The building was sold by Flint to the developer for $1.
I wager that Exploration Park will be as successful as the effort to transform the hardscrabble town into a tourist attraction--which even super-lib Michael Moore mocked in Roger and Me.
Like Detroit, Flint is run by an emergency manager.
