Agri-business giant Archer Daniels Midland wants to depart out-of-the-way Decatur, Illinois and set up its headquarters in a more cosmopolitan city away from the farms--perhaps Chicago.
And as Sears did when it threatened to move its HQ from the Chicago area, ADM it demanding tax breaks to stay in the Prairie State.
Here is my proposal to ADM: Eliminate the massive "temporary" income tax hike Gov. Pat Quinn and his fellow Democrats enacted in the final hours of the 2011 lame-duck session of the General Assembly.
Eliminate that hike for everyone.
Plain and simple--and the bill can be written in one paragraph.
Instead, the inept Pat Quinn is tying ADM tax breaks to fixing Illinois' $100 billion pension debt. Quinn of course said he was "put on earth" to solve the state's pension crisis 533 days ago.
