"The Colonel." James Pritzker, says he is now a woman

A couple of months ago I wrote about a proposed Evanston lakefront land grab so billionaire James Pritzker, cousin of Obama crony Penny Pritzker, can rehab an old mansion, the Harley-Clarke home, and turn it into a boutique hotel.

I view public Lake Michigan shore land as sacrosanct and I believe that Evanston should say "No" to Pritzker. If the liberals running the city can't afford to maintain the mansion, it should raze it--therefore increasing open space there.

As for my post, I got a lot of heat for it. Priztker's politics lean on the libertarian side, and some friends issued private scoldings to me because he maintains funds the Pritzker Military Library and that he is not a Penny Pritzker clone.

What set me off about James Pritzker, a retired Army colonel, referred to himself as "the Colonel." It seemed a bit pompous to me.

Well, what will those friends think now? According to Crain's Chicago Business--registration is free and so are the first 9 stories--James Pritzker says he is now a woman. The Colonel changed his name to Jennifer Natalya Pritzker. In a memo to the library and his firm Tawani Enterprises, the Colonel's status was declared, "This change will reflect the beliefs of her true identity that she has held privately and will now share publicly," adding, "Pritzker now identifies herself as a woman for all business and personal undertakings."

Pritzker's uncles founded Hyatt Hotels.
