Punt or "Hail Mary" pass? Quinn sets July 9 deadline to fix Illinois pensions

Illinois is on the road to ruin
It's been 427 days since Gov. Pat Quinn said he was "put on earth" to fix Illinois' woefully underfunded public pension system. Yesterday, in a special session called by the Chicago Democrat, Quinn and the Democratic-controlled General Assembly punted. Again. They formed a committee that has set a deadline of July 9 to come up with a plan to remedy the Prairie State's $100 billion pension deficit.

Is this a punt or a "Hail Mary" pass?

Or is this committee just a rest stop on Illinois' road to ruin?
