Not Superman: It's been 420 days since Quinn said he was "put on earth" to fix Illinois pensions

Superman's hometown, Metropolis, Illinois
Tomorrow the new Superman movie, Man of Steel, hits theaters.

Meanwhile in Illinois, we have our self-appointed Kal-El of Krypton, Governor Pat Quinn, who said 420 days ago that he was "put on Earth" to fix the state's public pension system, which is burdened by a $100 billion shortfall.

The General Assembly was unable to pass pension reform in the 2013 spring session. So Quinn is using his less-than-superhuman powers to call a special session of the legislature--which begins next week--to deal with pension reform.

Again.

But Quinn and the leaders of both chambers of the General Assembly, Chicago Democrats like himself, cannot even agree on one plan.

The best solution, which none of them are considering, is to ditch the antiquated system and replace it with a 401k plan.
