Leave it to Beavers: Another Chicago politician indicted

Chicago's politicians are well past the point of being able to field its own prison baseball team. Soon they will be able to fill their own penitentiary.

Cook County Commissioner William Beavers, a former Chicago alderman and police officer, was indicted this afternoon. He is accused of using campaign contributions to pay off personal expenses. He didn't pay income taxes on cash outlays, the feds are charging.

Beavers has been feuding with the Jesse Jackson wing of the Chicago Democratic Party. Like the Iran-Iran War of the 1980s, sometimes you want both sides to lose.
