While Americans suffer, President Obama continues to blame Republicans for his errors.
"Senate Democrats are out of excuses and the president must call on them to act," House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement. "The House has voted to remove government obstacles to desperately needed jobs -- and we've done it in a bipartisan way. At a time when these bipartisan jobs bill are stalled in the Senate, it is unacceptable for the White House to be anything less than 100 percent engaged in the legislative process."
Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), the House Deputy Whip, adds his thoughts:
Nine percent national unemployment is the latest reminder that Senate Democrats need to immediately take up the House's "Forgotten 15" job-creating bills that are still stalled in the Senate. House Republicans have passed significant bipartisan commonsense solutions that would remove barriers to job creation for America's economy – yet the Senate still refuses to act.Newt Gingrich has a jobs plan, click here to learn more about it.
Our economy is still suffering from the over-taxing, over-regulating and over-spending policies of the last years from the Democrats that have run Washington. It's been over two and a half years since the stimulus first passed, yet trillions in debt later, unemployment is still 9% – well above the 8% peak promised by this administration.
Small businesses of course do most of the hiring. The Stop The Hit contributes to the conversation: Stubborn unemployment rate emphasizes need to repeal tax on small businesses.
