While John Kerry and David Axelrod are blaming the Tea Party for the downgrade of our credit rating, they might want to look a bit closer when they are pointing fingers. In April, when asked by the Fox Business Channel if their was a risk that the United States could lose its AAA credit rating, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner replied, "No risk of that."
Geithner and Obama may have inherited a recession, but they also inherited an AAA credit rating. Meanwhile, the damage continues to spread. Standard & Poors downgraded the credit ratings of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac today.
