Ill. Dem party chairman attends Boehner fundraiser day after Boehner appears at GOP fundraiser to fight gerrymandered map

Illinois' Dem-drawn "tentacle" map
Two weeks ago US House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) came to Hinsdale, Illinois to be the headliner for an Illinois GOP congressional delegation fundraiser to pay the legal expenses to fight the shameful gerrymandered US House map drawn by state House Speaker Michael Madigan and state Senate president John Cullerton, both Chicago Democrats. Madigan is also chairman of the state Democratic Party, his daughter is Illinois' attorney general.

The next night, Tom Duffy, the chairman of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, held a fundraiser for Boehner's leadership fund at his home. Who else was there? Michael Madigan.

My guess is that Boehner didn't know anything about Madigan's invitation. But Illinois GOP chairman Pat Brady quipped to the Chicago Sun-Times that Boehner may have said, "Hey, Mike, nice map."

Something is wrong here, even if Madigan didn't write a check to Boehner's leadership fund.
