WFI responds to AFL-CIO boss Trumka

Two weeks ago I reported on a Communications Workers of America conference call--Richard Trumka participated. There was plenty of "red meat" tossed about the need to support public-sector unions in Ohio and Wisconsin, but curiously, there was not a peep about Massachussets' proposal to remove health care benefits from the collective bargaining process. Why not? The Bay State has a Democratic governor and legislature.

Trumka is nothing but hot air. The WFI responds to his latest emission:

WFI Responds To AFL-CIO Boss Trumka
Washington, D.C. (May 20, 2011) – The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today released the following statement in response to American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) President Richard Trumka:

"Today's threats by Richard Trumka are nothing more than a plea for more bailouts from bureaucrats in government on the backs of American job creators. Big Labor expended nearly half a billion dollars electing President Obama and they expect 'payback,' plain and simple," said Fred Wszolek, spokesman for the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI). "With the rejection of the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act, 'payback' comes in the form of radical actions by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and National Mediation Board (NMB). And while union bosses are trying to put Capitol Hill on notice, elected officials should already know that our nation's employers will not stand by politicians who side with regulators pursuing job-killing policies."

BACKGROUND:
"Richard Trumka Threatens To Abandon Democrats In 2012 Unless They Fight Harder For Labor":

"AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka plans to issue yet another warning to Democrats on Friday, proclaiming that if lawmakers don't push hard enough to stem attacks on labor's interests, workers will abandon the party in the 2012 election.” (Sam Stein, "Richard Trumka Threatens To Abandon Democrats In 2012 Unless They Fight Harder For Labor," The Huffington Post, 5/20/11)

Union Bosses Expect NLRB To Use "Administrative Action" To Enact Forced Unionization:
"We are very close to the 60 votes we need. It [sic] we aren't able to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, we will work with President Obama and Vice President Biden and their appointees to the National Labor Relations Board to change the rules governing forming a union through administrative action..." (Stewart Acuff, " Restoring The Right To Form Unions And Bargain Collectively," The Huffington Post, 2/3/10)

Bailouts Are Political "Payback":
"Gerald McEntee, president of the influential American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, told The Washington Times in an interview that EFCA was 'payback' for the labor movement's massive campaign effort for Mr. Obama and the Democrats." (David R. Sands, "Labor's 'Priority' On Back Burner," The Washington Times, 12/29/08)

Big Labor Spent Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars To Elect Politicians:
"There has been nothing coy about the Democratic presidential candidates' courtship of Big Labor. After all, union endorsements come with armies of door-knocking, phone-calling, sign-waving foot soldiers; union leaders will spend about half a billion dollars on political campaigns this election cycle." (Tim Miller, "Giving Away The Store,New York Post, 12/17/07)
