Despite soaring gas prices, senior Democrats calling for ‘higher taxes’

Have you checked the price of gasoline lately? Regular is selling for $3.75 a gallon where I live.

In this case, gas prices would not rise if tax breaks are removed. Gas prices are determined mostly by world oil prices, which would be little affected. If the oil companies are sheltered from paying their fair share of taxes, the taxpayers will have to pony up instead.
