The last Three Stooges movie was "Kook's Tour," which was filmed in late 1969 and early 1970. Here's the premise: Moe, Larry, and Curly Joe DeRita have retired--and are now traveling the world in a recreational vehicle and a motorboat--aided by a cargo jet. The idea was a sound one. Moe was over 70 at the time, and the other Stooges weren't much younger--they couldn't be expected to perform effective pratfalls.
This clip finds the Stooges in Idaho, Moe does the narration. A highly-intelligent and well-read man, Howard's prodigous memory served him well--remembering lines was easy for him.
The 50 minute television movie was meant to be a pilot for a regular series. But late in the filming, Larry Fine suffered a debilitating stroke--he never recovered. He died in 1975, as did Moe. Curly Joe passed away in 1993.
Watch as Moe combs his hair from a comb-back to a soup bowl--and back again.
Although a Three Stooges revivial is in the works, I'd rather finish up "Kook's Tour," the kindler, gentler Stooge project.
