In the last few days of 2010, Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel
raised $1.4 million--and $1.2 million would have been illegal under an Illinois law that took effect on New Year's Day. Individuals are limited to contributing $5,000 to a candidate, corporations and unions are limited to contributions of $10,000.
The
Chicago Sun-Times has compiled Emanuel's $100,000 club. There are 24 of them, including Hollywood mogul David Geffen. Steven Spielberg is a piker, he only kicked in $75,000.
Ever magnanimous, Rahm until the new law took effect, limited individual contributions to $100,000.
