BP commission co-chair hates "Drill, baby, drill"

The Obama administration stacked the BP oil spill commission with anti-drilling advocates. An example is former is a former senator. The Hill taps in:

If the United States embraces a so-called "drill, baby, drill" philosophy, the country's oil will run out by 2031, the co-chairman of the national oil spill commission said Wednesday.

Former Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) said efforts to curb U.S. dependence on foreign oil by expanding domestic production would quickly deplete state oil reserves.

"If we were to adopt that and if the current estimates of reserves are accurate, we will drain the last drop of oil out of the United States in the year 2031," Graham said.
Back in the 1970s, I heard ad nauseum that we'd be out of oil at the end of the 20th century. Not just here, but worldwide. Yes, oil is a finite resource. I also remember being told that because of all the carbon dioxide we've been pumping into the air since the beginning of the industrial revolution, that sunlight was being partially blocked--which not only explained the frigid winters of the late 1970s, but that these were the harbinger of a new ice age. Before man-made global warming, there was man-made global cooling.

Graham and the other panel member should be looking out for small business owners such as Tom Clements of Louisiana. He just wants BP own up for the damages it caused to firms such as his--and get the federal government to start issuing drilling permits again--so he can get back to work.
