The Chicago Board of Elections Commissioners unanimously ruled that former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel meets the standard as a resident of Chicago. Which means barring a successful appeal, Emanuel will be among the 15 or so mayoral candidates on the February 22 ballot.
The hearing officer for the case, Joe Morris--a Republican by the way--has a well-deserved reputation for fairness. As for an appeal: Okay, I'm not a lawyer, but a judge will glance at the calender, look at deadlines for ballot printing and the like, and unless there is a very compelling reason not to do so--the original decision will be upheld. This isn't a death penalty case.
Move along, folks. If you don't want Rahm Emanuel to be mayor, vote for someone else. If he loses, this story will be forgotten.
