Paul Vallas and Gery Chico used to run the Chicago Public Schools. Vallas was the CEO, Chico, who also served as Mayor Richard M. Daley's chief of staff, was the president of the board of education.
Vallas ran for governor in 2002, he finished second in the Democratic primary. Since-convicted felon Rod Blagojevich was the victor. That was a big "oops," Illinois Democrats.
But the Vallas name is still a good one in Chicago. On Wednesday he endorsed his former colleague in his run for Chicago mayor.
Here is something I like about the Southwest Side native: Chico supports school vouchers.
Vallas talks about his endorsement on Fox 32 Chicago.
Warner Todd Huston calls this the move "first major endorsement" in the race.
