Claiming rumor-mongering "clearly contributed" to his defeat in the the Delaware Republican US Senate primary, Rep. Mike Castle is weighing a write-in bid for that same office in the general election, something I mocked last week.
If you are reading this Castle, here is my election analysis, one more time: You lost because you voted for cap and trade and you are a co-sponsor of the anti-free speech DISCLOSE Act.
When Castle began intimating that he might run as a write-in, the fear was that he would pull votes from the victor in that GOP contest, Christine O'Donell. But such a move could end up hurting the Democratic nominee, Chris "Bearded Marxist" Coons.
With Castle in the race, according to a Rasmussen poll, Coons brings in 49 percent of the vote, 40 percent goes to O'Donnell, with five percent to Castle. The rest are undecided.
The takeaway: Coons is under 50 percent and most Delaware voters are still learning about O'Donnell. And Castle really is a RINO, a Republican-in-name-only. They've figured that out in Delaware.
