That contribution, for the last thousand years, has been minimal bordering upon non-existent, although some Muslim scientists and mathematicians of late have achieved success--in non-Muslim nations.
In this year's Ramadan message, Obama made outlandish claim that Islam has always been a part of America. Uh, no. In fact, no freaking way, unless you count our two armed conflicts with Muslim pirates, the Barbary Wars, in the early 19th century.
This evening Obama saved the worst for last, he supports the building of a 13-story mosque and community center a few blocks from the former World Trade Center site. It will be called Cordoba House, the man behind it is Feisal Abdul Rauf, who authored a book What's Right with Islam Is What's Right with America. Okay, but overseas it was published under a more militant title, A Call to Prayer from the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11. Dawa is a strident form of Islam, often referred to as "stealth jihad."
In the weeks after the 9/11 attacks, Rauf was making some troubling statements, as Discover the Networks reports:
In a 60 Minutes interview that aired on September 30, 2001, Rauf said that the 9/11 attacks were part of a larger Islamic "reaction against the U.S. government politically, where we [the U.S.] espouse principles of democracy and human rights, and [yet] where we ally ourselves with oppressive regimes in many of these countries." "I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened," Rauf elaborated, "but United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened." Rauf further stated that "because we [Americans] have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world," it could be said that "[i]n fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA."Is this the "hope and change" Americans voted for two years ago?
Let Rauf build his mosque...just a few miles up or down the road. Ground Zero is sacred soil.
