Chicago White Sox lead AL Central

There has been little good news coming out of Chicago lately. The city is plagued by a high unemployment rate, senseless shootings, and corrupt politicians. Fortunately sports presents a welcome diversion. The Chicago Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup in 49 years, and the White Sox, after a wretched start, head into the All Star break in first place in the American League Central.

The South Siders, after sweeping the Kansas City Royals this afternoon, have won eight straight games.

The Cubs are having a tough go of it, and suffered the indignity losing the competition for the inaugural BP Crosstown Cup.

In the "good old days" Chicago had teams that lost--while everything else was going well.
