Bennett defeat a harbringer for a more conservative Senate in 2011

Swing to the right
Try to face the fact that I ain't that young no more.

Utopia, "Swing to the Right." 1982.

In a victory for the tea party movement, Senator Bob Bennett (R-UT), failed to win his party's renomination for fourth term.

The anti-incumbent feelings of that movement are soley about confronting liberals, although the charge against Bennett is that he was not conservative enough for Utah--arguably the most conservative state in the union.

By November Bennett's defeat will be largely forgotten, but the impact will remain. The Senate will be a far more conservative body in 2011, even if there is not a GOP majority there.

That's change I can believe in.
