Report from today's conference call with Ill. GOP chair Pat Brady on ObamaCare

This afternoon, I listened in on a conference call with Illinois Republican Chairman Pat Brady, who spoke about the Democrats' plan for health care reform that he says is a "job killing, tax imposing bill that the people of Illinois simply cannot afford." Here's my take on Rod Blagovich's former running mate: Despite his populist image, Governor Pat Quinn seems more interested in kowtowing to the Obama White House than tending to the needs of 13 million Illinoisans. Ignoring public opposition, Quinn backs the transfer of 100 committed terrorists to the proposed Gitmo North prison in Thomson.

Tomorrow the much-anticipated bipartisan health care summit will take place at the Blair House in Washington.

Like Gitmo North in Illinois, most Americans oppose ObamaCare.

And there is so much to oppose! Brady declared, "Most relevant to what's happening in Washington, as it relates to Illinois today, is that this health care bill is bad for Illinois." He continued, "First of all there are $26 billion in cuts to Medicaid that are going to be pushed down to the states, and we have a $13 billion budget deficit. We simply cannot afford the Democrats' proposed health care bill."

But the chairman told us that "populist" Quinn is silent on ObamaCare. Heck, at least he spoke out on Gitmo North is the way I look at it. But what about health care?

What about Illinois?

As for what Democrats' health care reform mean to people like myself, Brady warned, "We're now looking at another half a billion to a billion dollar imposition by the federal government in this health care bill and where is Governor Quinn on this? He has not addressed this, the only thing that he's addressed is his proposed tax increase." Quinn wants to hike the state income tax for most Illinoisans.

I'm not expecting much from tomorrow's Blair House summit, which Brady predicts will "be nothing more than a media event."

But can Quinn at least let us know his opinion on ObamaCare?

Should we assume that silence is compliance?
