Throughout the Upper Midwest, there are homes and businesses built as log cabins. Google "Log cabins, northwoods' and you'll see this is a popular architectural design
Although the log cabin pictured here, in Mohawk, is a little different. According to Hunts' Guide to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the constructed under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration. It now houses the Keweenaw Handicrafts Shop.
Many bars in the Chicago area have northwoods cabin facades, including the oldest building in Morton Grove, Bringer Inn.
