The unstimulating stimulus

The economic stimulus boondoggle was never about job creation. It was always about expanding government's role in our life. For more proof, that is, outside of what I've written before, I hand things over to the New York Post:

It's enough to make Bernie Madoff blush.

But not the federal government.

The Obama administration boasted yesterday that with $16 billion taken from you and given to others, 30,383 working Americans owe a hearty thanks of gratitude for their jobs.

Even the Obama-fawning press had to do the math and could not avoid pointing out that with $2.2 billion already out the door, it comes to $71,500 per job. That's a pretty costly stimulus.

The problem is that most of those jobs aren't in the private sector. Wisconsin, for example, "created or saved" 3 government jobs for every 1 private sector job.

Next year, without a stimulus, those government jobs still have to be funded. Meaning they just pushed costs off for a year
