Axelrod's old firm opens K Street office in Washington

You might think that Washington, particulary the K Street area near the Capitol, is filled to the brim with connected firms.

But as Greg Hinz reports in his Crain's Chicago Business blog, DC's cup has runneth over.

White House advisor David Axelrod, the Svengali behind the successful Barack Obama campaign apparatus, and the inventor of "astroturfing," founded ASK Strategies in Chicago. Among other things, it worked closely with Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama on their "patient dumping" scheme while they were top executives at the University of Chicago Hospital.

Axelrod has cut his ties to the firm, which is now known as ASGK Strategies, but I'm sure he's on first name basis with most of the people who still work there.

So, if you happen to need some help on a tricky issue and you're a Washington DC big shot...there just happens to be a new player in town...and "Ax" knows some of those men and women on that player's roster.

Take the Red Line and look for them on K Street. Or better yet, call for a limosuine ride there.

A new kind of politics.

Yeah, right.
