Speculation that the Chicagoans for Rio web site was Brazil-based was incorrect. Chicagoan Kevin Lynch, 43 year old advertising copywriter, is the creator of the somewhat tounge-in-cheek site promoting Rio de Janiero over its chief competitor for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Now that President Obama is headed to Copenhagen, along with Oprah Winfrey, Chicago's bid--already strong--looks better.
The smart money says you can forget about Tokyo and Madrid's bid. But surprises can happen. Atlanta pulled an upset in 1996 by bagging the games.

Awesome. Also see Lorraine Swanson's interview with Lynch. http://www.lakeeffectnews.com/2009/09/28/blame-it-on-rio/
