Blowing hot air in Kansas on energy

Get ready to see a lot more stories like this one, as the White House gets ready to force the national energy tax, better known as cap and trade, down our throats.

My guess is someone made a "suggestion" to Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson, a Democrat, about how great a national energy plan is--one that matches what President Obama wants.

From the Witchitopekinton Blog:

Gov. Mark Parkinson said today that it will take "almost a Marshall Plan" to develop green energy in America.

Parkinson called for national standards to require renewable energy use and subsidies and regulatory changes favoring environmentally friendly energy sources, especially wind power.

He said in the last five years, Kansas has gone from essentially no wind power to the No. 7 producer in the country, with more than 1,000 megawatts of wind capacity now on line.

But taking wind power nationwide will require improvements to the transmission system and other actions by the federal government, he said.

But the blog points out that an Alaska state representative pointed out that the Last Frontier is less windy in the winter, just when the state needs energy the most. A national plan is not the answer.

Winds are less powerful away from the plains of Kansas.

And how do you store power generated from wind?
