Zion, Illinois band Shoes self-financed their debut album, 1977's Black Vinyl Shoes.
They later signed with Elektra Records, their first LP for that label was Present Tense, which "Tomorrow Night" appears on.
Shoes had a reputation for studio wizardry in their early days--but also for bad live performances. However, I saw them at a night club in Champaign, Illinois in 1982--they were great.
About the name of the group: During their first American tour, a journalist asked John Lennon why the Beatles name was chosen. He quipped, "Well, we could have been called 'The Shoes.'"
