Want a sign that the Illinois Republican party is in disarray?
The state party chairman, Andy McKenna, is the one stumbling block preventing the GOP’s leading recruit, Rep. Mark Kirk, from officially announcing he’s running for the Senate.
Kirk, who has been courted by national Republicans for months, told party officials today that he would only be running if they ensured that McKenna won’t be challenging him in a primary.
McKenna was originally planning to run only if Kirk passed on the Senate race, but he had become angered over Kirk’s vote in favor of cap-and-trade energy legislation -- and has told GOP officials he wouldn’t necessarily step aside.
Like low-hanging fruit, this seat should within the Republican Party's grasp. Kirk blew it by voting for cap-and-trade. Yes, I'm aware it would have passsed without Kirk and the other Republican cap and tr8ter's votes--the Dems were holding some Blue Dog votes back. But that makes eight GOP pro cap-and-trade votes all the more maddening. If Pelosi forced industrial district Democrats to vote for the national energy tax--that would have made them instantly vulnerable next year.

Kirk can blow it out his ear! No way I vote for him after that sort of betrayal. We need another GOP squish in the Senate like we need another porkulus bill... which we would be likely to get from a jerk like him anyway.
The GOP needs to find someone else to run. Someone with a backbone.
As far as I'm concerned Kirk threw his entire career into the toilet and pulled the chain with the Crap and Trade vote.
I wonder what he got in exchange for his soul?
