A tale of two Illinois high schools

My alma mater, Carl Sandburg High School of Orland Park, Illinois, is in the news.

The Marching Eagles, of which I was once a member, will be marching in next week's presidential inaugural parade. I'm sure every member of the band reads Marathon Pundit daily, and will have me in their thoughts as they entertain the crowds on Pennsylvania Avenue on January 20. Break a leg, folks!

Now some bad news. Billy Dennis, the Peoria Pundit, reports that his alma mater, Woodruff High School, may be closing, along with three River City elementary schools. Dennis reports that the local school district has been plotting the secretly plotting the move, and not only slams them, but his local daily, the Peoria Journal-Star.

Peoria is a good blog town. Merle Widmer's Peoria Watch is another site you may want to take a look at that keeps an eye on happenings there.
