Federal Judge James F. Holderman granted a ninety extension requested by US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's office.
That means the feds have until April 7 to indict Illinois's gangster-governor, Rod Blagojevich, with charges related to the criminal complaint issued against the Chicago Democrat.
Because of the complicated nature of the Blago case, Holderman wrote that it is "unreasonable to expect the government to effectively prepare the evidence for presentation to the grand jury in a shorter time period."
By that time, Blagojevich could be removed from office by the state Senate. Unless Blago quits first.
I doubt the latter will occur. The circus will remain in town.
