The Cult of Change is sputtering

Teleprompter withdrawal can be painful. Last week, before Sarah Palin channeled Roy Hobbs at the end of The Natural, Barack Obama was already defensive about his lack of experience.

Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we've got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years.

There is so much wrong with that statement. Just one retort tonight though: Governor Palin is governor of Alaska, she is no longer Wasilla's mayor. That's why she's called Governor Palin.

And I wasn't aware the Cult of Change had so many employees. It's very odd that Obama could not find one to walk three blocks to WGN Radio's studio on a lovely Chicago evening to appear on Milt Rosenberg's show.

Going back three months, Obama said that his vice presidential pick would "be the most important decision that I will make before I am president." He picked Senator Joe Biden.

But Biden, who got less than 1 percent of the vote in the Iowa Caucuses--he dropped out of the presidential race shortly afterwards, disappointing dozens--told a crowd today that he's not the most qualifed person to be Obama's running mate. The Delaware senator told a crowd today:

Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be Vice President of the United States of America. Let's get that straight. She's a truly close personal friend; she is qualified to be President of the United States of America. She's easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me, but she is first-rate.
